👑"Ready 2 Reign" in 2023: Houston Astros Unveil New Team Slogan & Hype Video
Last year's "Level Up" certainly served its purpose, even as it originally seemed a vague call-to-action. For 2023, though, it's clear that the message is "cementing the dynasty."
So, I got the phone call: “I’m sorry, it’s what? ‘Ready Terrain’? What…the outfield’s been mowed? The infield’s been suitably dragged? No? Ohhhh, ‘Ready to RAIN!’ We’re all set for souvenir umbrella giveaway day?”
New team seasonal hype slogans ought not be relayed over the phone! Lesson learned, the good folks in the Houston Astros PR office, second week of February, alerted the media via text, press release, and anything else that was visual and had easy-to-decipher words.
Ignore the fact that Jose Altuve was kicking away the “G” and the “N” while stealing second; he was thoughtful enough to return them to their proper spot…well, not right away. For a few minutes, it seemed like the team’s 2023 hype slogan might be “READY TO REING”!
But, Jose’s stock-in-trade is his hand-eye motor coordination, and he set things right:
Much like trophy hand-offs and championship ring-engraving, the unveiling of the Astros’ new season hype tagline is an annual ritual at the Minute Maid Park offices of the Astros braintrust.
In fact, it’s a solemn affair, with the dramatic reveal always featuring a drum and bagel corps, the marching band and chorus from Our Lady of Perpetual Barbecues, with each place-setting featuring jars of Breggy Bomb salsa and barbecue sauce (with extra-wide straws).
