In 1970, he rolled into L.A., wide-eyed at 17, armed with a guitar, songs, and a dream. So did thousands of others. He broke through...once. But, in a surprising career turn he didn't see coming.
Great piece! I can't even imagine playing at an event these days where the guys running it would introduce you to record company people if they liked you much less where A&R people actually came to do more than drink. What a time to be alive
Indeed, AJ...and, thanks! Which is why Stephen's story had to be told! And, I'm so grateful and happy that he was so generous in laying it all out for us, here! Those days are gone, but we have our memories!
Thanks for reading, Gayle, and for your kind comment! I'll pass along your note to Stephen. I agree with all your sentiments, which is why I was happy to have him be so generous and eager to share his memories from that period! The reasons are many and varied as to why he/his music didn't catch on, and we're hopefully touching on some of them in our articles! Cheers, and thanks again!
Stephen and I grew up in the same neighborhood, want to all the same schools, had a lot of the same friends, and I could not be happier for him with all of his success, and the love he has in his life. He deserves it all.
Thanks so much for chiming in, Patricia! Same school, friends, and neighborhood, eh? Oh, the stories YOU must have!!!
Your words about Stephen are very kind, and from the several states apart that he and I are, as we're working, I certainly echo those thoughts, and he knows how appreciative I am for all of his heart and memories he's offering to the site! I'll let him know your comment is here, and thanks again, and it'll be good to have you on board for the future SMS entries!

So cool! I love behind the scenes, backstory insights like this. Nicely done, Brad, looking forward to the next installment!
Thanks, Michael! Mad props to the man himself, Stephen, for being so open and generous with his memories!
