I really enjoyed reading this and the story behind it. I have always thought this song was an underrated one. It is oddly urban and yet cosmic. Intriguing and beguiling, but not catchy in a conventional way. That it got into the top 20 is impressive.

Thanks, wordsworthesq! Glad you read and liked it! That's one of those decisions I'd love to have asked the people involved at the time......After the Bacharach/David hit, the decision to roll the dice on a complete unknown, although Dorothea did have a legit "trail" of success deep within the biz...she wasn't "just off the streets"!

Still, the decision to move forward with that song, and then have it pass through all the people it had to (label, producer, band members!) for recording...and, make it a single!....that kinda stuff fascinates me! Thanks again!

This is a lovely song, one I haven’t heard before. When reading the lyrics it reads very much like a poem, but not necessarily one that would work well as a song. But when I went back and listened to the 5D performance again while reading the lyrics, it actually works so incredibly well!

And, somehow, a virtually untried and unknown songwriter lands an unlikely song with an already proven hit machine. Lightning.....what a bizarre occurrence! You're right about the poem nature of the lyrics. But, the music carries the day, and Marilyn brings it home!
