I played his bodyguard in the period CBS TV-movie, "The Life and Assassination of the Kingfish," while also holding down a full-time job behind the mic at a local FM rock station!
Far from a "ruckus," it's really just another annoying and pointless nose-poke into everyday life (and a benign book called The Dictionary) by those who have dutifully appointed themselves the "word police," signaling to everyone that they know better than us unwashed rubes.
I know you're in Canada, but In this country, they're known as the "woke" elite, and they're now grappling with the definition of the word, "woman," if you can believe it! I think they're working on "woperson," lest a dozen "woke" billionaires on the coast clutch their pearls in mock disgust, and virtue signal that they feel oppressed, somehow.
Do you have room in Toronto for one more? I'm considering packing! I feel better getting that off my chest! Thanks, Nikhil!😁👍
2200 Canadian dollars?!? Oh, wait.......I've got that on me. Whatever it may be worth (I'll look that up in a minute), it might just be worth it to escape this lunacy!😉
Thanks, Marshall! I knew nothing about Long, either, but we lacked Google at the time...but, watching the movie unfold as we did the scenes helped sketch in some details. One of my many fame brushes...which is why we slipped below the velvet rope line to create Front Row & Backstage!
It was a fun time...my schedule during those weeks (day shoots, prime night-time radio slot) can only be done when you're 21!😱
I belong to a FB group called Old Images of Baton Rouge, And I just learned about this movie when someone posted a pic from the Advocate showing it being filmed downtown. Copies of the flick are rare and expensive, so I have the LSU Library tracking one down for me. If you are on FB, you need to join the group, your story mentioning you living on Lobdell and visiting Bon Marche was great! Or I can share a link to your blog. If you have other stories (or pictures...old images of Baton Rouge) please share. My email is superbeefinder@yahoo.com
Huh, didn’t know the ruckus about the word “extras”. 🤷🏼♂️

If you can afford 2200 Canadian dollars for a single room in Downtown Toronto, then come on over.

Very enjoyable piece, Brad. I remember the movie on TV... at the time I knew little about Long & I found it pretty interesting. Nice brush with fame!
