I see you're taking liberties with your "songs with 1 in the title." :)

I personally love Aimee Mann's version of "One" --- and now I'm thinking that this song for sure needs the "Inside Tracks" treatment. It's a song that is impossible to pick just one best version of.

What "liberties"? I know you're joshin', but for readers who may have otherwise misconstrued: I never said "songs with 1 in the title"! I mentioned we're celebrating the number and songs about the delectable digit! With "A Million Miles Away," "one" is understood. With a couple of the others, "1" was a digit in a larger numeral.

As for Nilsson's "One," you're right---but, for "Inside Tracks" consideration (as a for-instance), a song like that, I'd simply lean more toward the more interesting, and/or most underheard, covers. No one needs ME to simply regurgitate million-selling hits or even tagging ANY song as being best! I simply set the table, and let the invited diners choose which tasty morsels to try and like as they may!🎶🎵🎤👍

I think this might be the first time I've (knowingly) heard a Cliff Richard song that wasn't "We Don't Talk Anymore."

And you /know/ how I feel about the Plimsouls!

Richard has SO many songs that are top-notch...as I've said before: Just because it's a hit doesn't mean it's necessarily that artist's best song! Who wrote "We Don't Talk Anymore"? The aforementioned Alan Tarney, an incredible talent who deserves a lot more attention and appreciation!🎼🎵 I'm glad we were able to share a new Tarney/Richard song for you!👍

I hadn't heard that live Plimsouls version of "Million Miles Away" before. I shouldn't have been surprised how stunning it was out of the studio. The tension and urgency was even greater onstage than in the studio!

I believe you heard (or at least read) a piece I wrote on Medium to honor Halloween, featuring songs about the devil. Have you not heard "Devil Woman"? In my house growing up was bigger than "We Don't Talk Anymore."

I've heard "Devil Woman," certainly. But, like most radio hits, it wore out its welcome by the 83,847,694,887,736th play. But, with "Once in a While," say, I came to love it without radio's help (or without its need to make me sick of it by driving it into the ground).

But, what helped attach it to me (my ears and heart) was that I was facing a relationship that appeared to be on the verge of ending, and its lyrics spoke to me in that way, as well, much like the melody and arrangement spoke to my sensibilities.

I've got your Medium article open in a window to eagerly read later, Steve....gotta put it on "pause," though..........Astros are on!😁

I stand corrected! I also never realized that was him singing it.
