Yeah, it was only a 3-day poll, and you're right about the answer! As for Madonna, I always go back to one of her first TV appearances, on "American Bandstand," where Dick Clark asked her what her ambitions were. "To rule the world!" was her matter-of-fact answer!😲
I remember hearing them discuss a different poll a few months ago on who had the sexiest voice in rock (or maybe it was all music). Of the top five, Sade was the only female and Michael Hutchence was number 1! I was shocked at that result, but as a big INXS fan am pleased. If I remember right, 3 and 4 were Robert Plant, Barry White and I forget number 5.
But I would add Prince to that list. And I would definitely add it to yours as well.
That IS weird to have "sexiest," and only one female represented, although Sade certainly qualifies! And, Prince is certainly an apt add. I'd submit Lou Rawls, assuming we can be pan-genre! Ooh, Peggy Lee, too. Thanks, Steve....glad to have you past the velvet rope line!
Your struggle in choosing is the reason I was so motivated to replicate, to a degree, what Volume did Thursday morning! When I heard P v M, I thought, "How brilliant," 'cause what a power-packed duo to debate the music/pop culture impacts of both! Thanks for voting, KA!
Prince--all day
Thanks for voting, Paul!
Already closed, but Prince is the answer without reading the question

Can we pick which one of my sons is my favorite? That might be an easier choice.
Madonna takes it by the slimmest of edges for me-- and that's mainly because she's who I listened to last.

I would like to mention Seleka
