Sorry, rabbit holing. Just came across this! Amazing! Thank you for posting!
A friend of mine, John Holmstrom has been posting his memories from that tour along with Roberta's photos. Thought you might enjoy it. https://substack.com/@holmstrom
Don't apologize, Nat! Happy to have you here! Glad you liked! I know John....or, at least I sorta did in the late '70s. From Houston, I'd get Punk either from a local record shop (perhaps the one I worked at!), or sent to him for some (or subscribed).
Sounds like we need to chat; I'd love to find out more about "how you got here," and what and how your life has possibly intersected mine, or at least the similar things and bands we may have in common!
I know you've yet to set up your 'Stack, but give a holler if you wanna converse a bit, and maybe think about doing a Tune Tag with me, if nothing else closer to your launch date, so we can promote the snot out of it!! Here are the Tune Tags, all in one place: https://bradkyle.substack.com/t/tune-tag
Thanks, Glenn! A story I've been dying to tell, and the 44th anny of their first tour stop seemed like the perfect unveiling of my Alamo-city adventure! Was aware of the Nuns support, but just now peeking at Escovedo's post-Nuns career is an eye-opener!
You've given me some homework I'll be anxious to tackle! For some reason, I've been more aware of his family's work over the decades than his: bros Pete and Coke, and niece, Sheila E., and even little bro, Javier and his work with So. Cal punkers, The Zeros, with their single on BOMP! Records in '77. Thanks again for the reminder of an interesting musical tree!

I wrote John on more than one occasion! And, I know he replied more than once, as well! I'm willing to bet I sent him a single by some friends of mine, The Plastic Idols....the one that's featured in this piece: https://bradkyle.substack.com/p/power-in-the-darkness-with-tom-robinson
Also, don't miss my two 1973 weekends spent with the Dolls: https://bradkyle.substack.com/p/into-the-doll-house-with-todd-rundgren-fb6

Thanks again, Nat!
Thank you for all your lovely replies and links! I will certainly check them out!
What a small world! I'm glad you have made contact with John over the years; he's a gem!
Thanks so much for the tune tag offer! That is so generous of you! I am touched!
If I ever get my act together on this substack thing, haha, I will let you know! Thanks again!
You got it, Nat! Hope to see ya soon!
Nicely told story. I'm sure you know this, but The Nuns were one of the openers for the SF show, led by no other than Alejandro Escovedo.

Love Escovedo. One of my favorites, both with the True Believers and his own bands (electric and orchestral).
