We uncover a lot about these long-lost '80s retro power-poppers: Their Texas roots, their unexpected connection with The Who, and their slithering alias! The good news? They're dropping a new album!
This is so cool. I didn’t know about the band, and it’s hilarious that they started out as some sort of joke, pretending to be a band from the 60s! And the fact many fans believed it! 🤣🤣brilliant!
Thanks, Andy! It was strange writing about a band I had no knowledge of! And, in listening to that one song, it's frustrating that that's all we get to hear from the '83 album! Terry's sent me the tracks that'll be on the new album, and they're really good....a little mellower than what the '83 album likely was (to be expected, I think), but the twins' vocals are really incredible to hear together...there's something about that brother thing, and more to the point, the twin thing!
I can imagine that must have been an interesting writing venture. Crazy how elusive their 83 album seems to be! And yes, when siblings (let alone twins) sing together, something magical happens. You can really tell they come from the same place! 😊
I asked Terry why (with virtually every album ever released seemingly on the 'net in some way!) there's no real trace of that album (save one track) to be found, and he told me he didn't know.
This usually gets into the realm of licensing and, of course, copyrights, and who owns the recordings. So, beyond all that, I didn't want to pry. But, human nature being what it is, the scarcity of that '83 album's tracks only makes me want to hear 'em all the more (on top of that alluringly bangin' "I Can't Sleep at Night")!
Thanks! I’ve been waiting maybe 30 years or more, ever since buying 64-67 second hand and falling in love with it, to find any info on the Numbers and had never even heard of The Bordersnakes before.
Thanks for subscribing, Martin! Terry has been beyond kind and generous in sharing the information contained herein! In fact, he's been a FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE subscriber since this past summer, and it's fun to have him on board.....
.....and, you, as well, Martin! Feel free to check out the vast array of several hundred Legacy articles archived here, most behind a paywall! But, with your paid subscription, they're all wide open to you! You're always welcome FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE!
