Wow! I listened to a few of Joshua’s YouTube piano videos, he not so much plays the piano, as deeply explores it, captivating. Also I love the vocal / backing vocal arrangements on his cover version of ‘Where do the girls of summer go?’, totally reminiscent of a 60s / 70s California style, The Beach Boys vs. The Carpenters. V cool.

I know! He's quite the "old soul"! I was honored to be "his first interview" as he Tweeted afterward! He's immensely talented, and I wish he had the time and resources to pursue his music career, but with a young family, he's doing the responsible thing in making sure they're taken care of, with "regular" jobs!

Here's hoping he can still move forward musically, and folks will support his YouTube channel, his Spotify content, and in any other ways! I'll make sure he gets your comment, Nic, and thanks!

Y'all's encouragement inspires and motivates me. I'll try to squeeze a new practice regime into my current schedule to break through my plateau at the keyboard. I have several musicological books on my shelf that I need to read anyways. Need to come up with some new content formats so I can release short work more regularly again. Nic, there are more piano improvisations on my Instagram than my YouTube, if you are interested in more.

You're welcome anytime, Joshua, FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE! As Sammy Davis, Jr. was fond of saying, "It's been a stone cold gas, man!"✌See ya soon!

Awesome interview/piece! That's so great that you are reaching out to the newly discovered artists you find in your research/playtime. I wondered what the head on the piano thing was all about. Did you ask him about that?

Thanks, Steve! Of course I was impressed by his playing and singing, but to have discovered him playing a Mark Eric song....the planet stopped spinning! Within a month of my discovering Mark for the first time--liking his album, and then finding virtually nothing on the 'net of his existence--and then finding Joshua playing one of his songs....!!🤯

So, I had to reach out to, at least, ask him about that (and how he discovered Mark and his album), and once he was game for a long-form, we just went for it!

As for noggin on the keyboard, no, I didn't ask...I can only imagine it's merely an artistic choice! 👨🎹👍

In talking to a subscribing friend this morning (and his amazement at that posture), I wondered what made him even attempt that the first time! But, I rationalized that, if I can play the flute (like most people) without seeing my fingers on the keys, it may not be that hard to blindly play the piano (other than getting used to playing it OTHER than the way you were taught)!

There's a lot of garbage on YouTube, but it's worth sifting through because there's also a lot of great stuff on there, especially when it comes to indie musicians. You should check out Landon Blood. He does a lot of work for the amazing horror anthology podcast Old Gods of Appalachia (also worth checking out, if you're into that sort of thing) and YouTube is the only place I've been able to find his music so far.
