Ah yes, Spring training...that glorious period right before the Brewers find a new way to break my heart...

As an Astro fan for 60 years, I can certainly commiserate (hmmm....is the root for "commiserate" the same as for "misery"?) with your less-than-exuberant approach to spring training! Each season for the then-Lastros seemed to herald a new race for the cellar!

I can't believe I've actually lived long enough to witness TWO WS wins for Space City! BTW, Kevin, in my previous incarnation as an Astros scribe for "another network," I wrote 3 articles about young Master Yelich (color me his #1 fanboy from afar!). Rather than leave you the 3 links, here's a link to the page with those three at the top of the search results: https://therunnersports.com/?s=christian+yelich Enjoy....and, here's legit hopes our teams meet: "See you at the World Series!"

We should be so lucky! Thanks for the link!

Speaking of Yelich: Last week, I'm in the Bahamas on vacation. A guy sees my Yelich shirt, and throws out a "Go Brewers!" The usual small talk ensues, and in the space of about 4 questions, it turns out he grew up about a block from where I now live. Honestly, one of the coolest parts of the trip.

Bahamas?! Here's hoping there are stories--far more than baseball-related and "old-home-week" ones...we patiently await (like Charlie Brown on Valentine's Day!) all standing by our inboxes! That story, though, is the perfect example of a great reason for vacations (usually not found in vacay brochures)----the serendipitous meeting!!🌴👍

Standby for a 3 part series on how I spent a week defrosting. Sitting on the beach? Watching cruise ships enter/leave port? Moving as little as possible? It's all here. lol.

Seriously though, there'll be some mentions here and there, and you're right; that sort of serendipity is magic. Truly one of my favorite things in life.
