Ooh, glad we filled a need, Chris, as well as a want! Curious minds (namely mine) want to know, just where the heck do you think you're going?๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽตHamlet, you're a prince! I love how you tolerate all my shenanigans! Safe travels!!โœจ

Fun Tag! I can't stress enough just how massive The Stone Roses were in Britain during the '90s. They were viewed as the saviors of British guitar rock. They weren't overly noisy like the shoegaze bands, and they had a nice blend of guitar with an ecstasy dance vibe. And, more importantly, they weren't American! Their debut is now firmly cemented in the "Greatest British Albums of All Time" lists (I have seen it in several Top 3 lists, and in one overly enthusiastic list, it was even #1)! I definitely disagree with that high of a placement, but it gives some insight into just how important that album was/is!

Nice inclusion in this Tune Tag, Andy!

Loved every minute of this! I did own that Sting album, but I probably didnโ€™t make my first internet purchase until a few years later?

Iโ€™ve been meaning to check out more by Elliot Smith - I wasnโ€™t familiar with him and someone played something off of one of his albums a couple weeks ago at my local breweryโ€™s vinyl night- I took a picture of the album to go check it out

Great comment, Kristin.....thanks! It's fun hearing how we all discover this or that album/artist! Here's the dunce I am (I feel like I can dish with you!)....I obviously didn't have that Sting album, cuz/and for years, I thought that title was "Ten Commoner's Tales"!๐ŸคชI apparently hadn't closely looked at the jacket (and, it's not all that clearly written), and even in putting this together, I had "Commoner's" written first.

When I saw Andy mentioning the real title, I almost simply changed it! "Nope, let me look that one up....WHAT?!? Why the hell's it called "Ten Summoner's Tales"?!? What the hell's a "Summoner"? Sting, I'm sure, would wonder why I'd so fervently think it was "Commoner's"! Sometimes, I wonder about me!๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks so much, Steve! That was all Andy! I was "pitched" WP at the time by friends of mine who thought they'd "be right up my alley," and while I enjoyed their debut, they really didn't "grab" me! But, I enjoy what I hear, and especially as they "appear in real life/time" like here on The Tag!

Such a fun and creative Tune Tag! You were both super switched on. I loved Andy's analogy between his first song and his upbringing, Brad's endless reservoir of covers and similarly-named songs, and the connections you both made, at times, even thinking outside the box.

I love Bruno โค๏ธ always.

Very interesting to read about the first online CD purchase! How the newspaper described the whole endeavour as if it was a moon landing! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Priceless.

Thank you both!

Thanks, Andy! Andy's so much fun, and as I've hinted elsewhere, it's such a treat for this 20th-century guy to interact with all these young'uns who also appreciate and love that era's music....and, yes, especially including Andy-squared!

I wonder, Andy, if you're aware/familiar with Bruno's fabulous past....far past....and, it's all been documented. I'll look up some videos for you, and pass them along (they're American broadcast media, so you may have missed it).

I may not be a fan of Bruno's contemporary output, but, good night....his range on those Sting songs was outrageous (were his arrangements in the same key as Sting's?)! In other words, I adore his talent, and it's fun watching/listening to him.

I agree on that NYT article! What's so incredible (and equally random) is that the very first item (it could've been ANYTHING!!) sold on this thing called the internet was a recorded product.....a CD, no less........and, no more!๐Ÿ˜‰You not only rule, Andy.....you rock!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

You two guys rock!! I loved the generational combo and the energy throughout.

I'm a big Bruno fan, to the surprise of no one ๐Ÿ˜… Those videos of him as a kid are too cute for words, and his Sting tribute was spectacular. I've quickly checked re key of the songs and, if my ear is right, he sang So Lonely a touch HIGHER than the original, which is impressive. Message In A Bottle is, for my money, in the same key as the original. I suspect slightly raising the pitch of So Lonely was due to the medley nature of the affair, so as to make the two songs blend better together from a technical standpoint (we know stylistically they do). Bruno's got the chops, no doubt about it! I also loved how gracious Sting during the standing ovation. Unforgettable!

Thanks for checking on that, Andy! I see the rationale for adjusting the "So Lonely" pitch for the medley. It's wild seeing Bruno so talented as a virtual toddler...so many times, we'll see kiddies in videos and on TV, never to be heard from again....we rarely get to see a full-fledged entertainer at 4 (with such a high volume of video footage available) turn into a worldwide, top-selling recording artist!

As for Sting at the Kennedy Center Honors.....spot-on! I've seen a lot of those telecasts, and mostly the musical artists, at that point, are in their--well, let's just say, they're, like, MY age and older----but, so many of them just sit there, and we have no idea how they're feeling....they either want to come off as cool, or, they're not sure how to react to watching their songs being performed, etc.....but, Sting let us see all his emotions....such a treat!

They did a great tribute for Sting that year at the Kennedy Center. Herbie Hancock, Bruce Springsteen, and Lady Gaga also performed for him.

Good stuffโ€ฆ.thanks, Andy! That explains their appearances at the end for the Bruno finale! I was wondering why they were there, but that makes perfect sense! Iโ€™m sure I saw that at the time! I love seeing an artistโ€™s peers show them love and appreciation like that!

Always happy to help with technical musical tidbits! And you're so right, on both counts: the gift of now being able to see what that kid became, and how expressive and genuinely humble Sting is. I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the house!

This might be one of the best Tune Tags yet! Great picks you guys!

Ten Summoner's Tales was a formative album for me as a songwriter and 'Seven Days' was probably my favorite song on the record, so I was glad to see this gem get a chance to shine in this episode of TT!

Thanks, Adam! Glad you enjoyed it! I haven't heard much on that album, and I'm glad Andy chose that particular video, as it was so illustrative of what all went into recording it.

I'm also pleased that Andy dug deeper into his growing up with his parent-aided love of the previous century's music! Regular readers know I love that dynamic, and it's so much fun interacting with "the kids these days" (oy...sorry) who have as much of a love and interest in the music of the '60s and '70s (and beyond) as I did living through it in real time!

Plus, it's cool to get a peek, Adam, into one of the songs/albums that influenced your songwriting! Thanks for sharing that!๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘
