Brad, I must admit this is now my favorite music "game" and I hope we can play again. Thanks for making it so.

Wow I loved this edition and to be honest it felt like it went by way too quickly this week! Some new artists for me in the 60s infused garage rock section and I look forward to exploring the catalogs of The Rogues and The dB’s. That Yardbirds track is such a classic, not quite up to ‘For Your Love’ territory for me but darn close. As far as I’m aware, I’d only ever heard of Andrew Gold on his song ‘Lonely Boy’ which is one of my favorite soft rock gems. I’ll have to look into him a little further.

Thanks for another entertaining and enjoyable installment gentlemen!!

Another joyful Tune Tag! Happy to see The dBs get some love. And I think The Hollies are up there in the most utilized band too (though no one will catch up to Phil C./Peter G./Genesis and Eno I don't think).

I have to say that I might be scarred from the Wax song and video. Thankfully the wax already in my ears kept most of the song from infecting me!:) I jest. Sort of.

Very fun read, gents! The middle section of this Tune Tag where the two of you are bouncing from The Rogues to the Music Explosion definitely reminded me how much of an inspiration Kaye's 'Nuggets' comp was on me (and Brad mentioned that legendary LP in his notes). That album definitely led the teenage me to dive even deeper into digging for 60s garage and psych rock.

The Rush version of "Heart Full of Soul" was gorgeous.

Were those driers going onstage?!

I'm not a vinyl-head but, damn, I can hear the sound of someone flipping through a stack of LPs as I read this collaboration.

I have listened to all of the songs, a couple of notes:

I hadn't heard of David Warner, "The Ballad of Trixie Silver", OR "Avenging Annie" and it's a good opening track -- intriguing. I can't decide whether to what extent the song blames Tex, or thinks that he was playing by the rules and it's a story about how the rules are biased against Trixie.

I enjoyed the contrast from the understated opener to the high-energy track by the Rogues.

I was really excited about the Alex Chilton track, but the stereo mix wasn't a good fit for listening on headphones. But it is remarkable both how much charisma Alex Chilton has, and how distinctive his voice is -- it's easy to hear the elements of his performance that will flourish in Big Star (and as a solo artist).

The dBs are great. I had only heard "Amplifier" before, and this is great (and am I stretching to hear a similarity to The Replacements as well).

The Music Explosion / The Yardbirds: I really liked how the Tune Tag went, but listening to these I got a little bit tired of the 60s sound. I enjoyed the Rush cover and, if I'd just listened to that version I would have imagined that the original had more of a Zombies sound.

The Hollies; good song but, after the last two, the sound is a little too bright and sharp.

The Wax: for all of the deserved mockery of this track, I do appreciate it as a sonic palette cleanser -- nothing sharp-edged about this sound.

In a 60s mood, I followed it up by listening to Joe Jackson's cover of "Summer In The City" (which opens his Live in New York album): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTKVJ3yrZ7A

Another killer round! Thanks to you both! Any 'Tag with The dBs in it, is alright by me. IMHO, everyone should own a copy of 'Like This.'

I was listening to the Rogues “Train Kept A Rollin’” and thinking about the Yardbirds version with Jeff Beck.

Then I scroll down and see "Heart Full of Soul" by those very same Yardbirds ... with Jeff Beck!
