Lots of great songs this week! Paolo Nutini had my number one song of the year in 2007 with "New Shoes." I still love that tune. I even heard it on a playlist I was listening to today while riding my bike! Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaecIn0iLfU

Way cool song and video, Dan....thanks! He's got a natural talent, and I like his voice, tone and phrasing. That "forest" video I included made me feel like he's got no inhibitions, feels completely comfortable singing, and I don't feel like his style is contrived at all, and I'm guessing he's had no lessons (which is not a slam....he has a tone and timbre which hasn't been "tampered with")! I just looked, and that "forest vid"....MAYBE he was 20, but, I think not quite.

Then, there's the cover of that debut album! Just 4 generic yellow and orange far-away graphics of, I guess, him. You'll notice the pix I was stunned to find....how the hell do you have a face like that, you're a recording artist, and that kisser ISN'T smack dab on the cover of your debut album!?!? Where was his manager? Where were any label execs? Where was HE?!? Maybe he just wanted to see if his music, alone, was enough to move product....but, my goodness! That's a knock-down/drag-out fight I'd-a been happy to have with him! Had this been the '70s, his poster would've been in that large, book-like/turn the "pages" poster display in every mall record chain store!

Thanks Brad! Yes, he was quite attractive then! Another one of his songs, "Cherry Blossom" almost made my Ten in 2012. Here's a live performance of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_6evHb5zxo

I think he was 25 there....just looked at a few of his songs (and, I figured he wrote), but he appears to co-write a lot with who I'm guessing are band members. I love how he doesn't steer clear of strings (on his album) and horns (in his stage show)! He may be a rocker, but gotta love a pop sense that "allows" *gasp* strings and horns into your recordings and concerts! Thanks for this!

What a great Tune Tag, gents! I enjoyed listening to each track but, above all, I particularly liked reading your notes. Well played, Tom, when you pushed the fast forward button to bring us a couple of decades into the present.

Veeery interesting story about Nirvana and the “other” Nirvana 🤣 Brad always has a trick up his sleeve!

Amazing work, guys!

Thanks, Andy! Tom was a fun Tagger, that's for sure! I enjoyed his shock at how fast the 20 years from Nutini's song has gone by! Yes, Tom, time has a way of movin' on down the line! I had never heard of Nirvana 1.0, but I'm glad the lads worked out a way for both to exist...it just wouldn't do to have trouble in Nirvana-land!

A couple of my favorite tracks here in “Mother” and “Sultans of Swing”. I loved the extra info on Rupert Holmes as I’m really only familiar with his Pina Colada Song and “Him” (or the French cut “Lui”: https://youtu.be/eQNT66xGoO4).

I also love that Paulo Nutini song and the album it comes from. He’s a real gem and has so much soul in that voice!

Thanks, Mark! Tom brought some great tracks aboard, and I'm always eager to show off the brilliance of Rupert Holmes, which is so abundant, yet so limited (in the general public's eyes) to......"that song"! I loved singing "Him" at karaoke a decade ago! Great chord changes on a nifty chorus! Nutini's new to me, and, in comments elsewhere, I wax positive on his vocal talent, too!

Have you ever listened to the French version of Him? Definitely worth a listen. My wife tells me it was big in Montreal when she was growing up

Just heard it....thanks for dropping it in your first comment! That two-syllable "Lui" is hard to fit into his single-syllable "Him" cadence! Holmes even has playwright on his resume: 1985's musical, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" and his Tony-nominated 2003 musical, "Say Goodnight, Gracie"! And, we're STILL just skimming the surface!
