I am eating a bowl of granola, yogurt and raspberries while reading this and feeling a combination of super connected and sorta guilty, like I’m some sort of monster.
I will jump on the “Too Much TV” newsletter from Rick Ellis. It’s my go-to source for keeping up with the lastest on the writer’s strike. As I’ve been known to write about TV shows for Earworms & Song Loops (such as the latest on Somebody Somewhere), finding great journalism/essays on TV is as vital for me as the music stuff I follow here.
And Brad, just a tip -- whenever a reader offers a supplement to your extensive research, just say “I was going to include that but was waiting for one of my mega-knowledgable readers to suggest it.” It’s the perfect combo of all-knowing and humble.
What an impressively healthy breakfast! I'll have to re-think my usual morning repast of crumbled Oreos, vanilla wafers, and chocolate milk---don't sneer; I'll have you know I use Equal on it, instead of sugar!🍪
All things being Equal - your breakfast sounds pretty great! You might want to try granola and Raspberries, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Bananarama and Coconut Records!
And, I'm glad to see YOU included HERE, Mike! I was a "late" convert, completely diving into his work (with so many others) on "Born to Run" upon its '75 release!
I saw Bruce in about '78 at the Summit in Houston, and it was a show exactly as advertised! Bruce and Clarence were both electric and relentless (and, of course, the band, smokin')! I believe I can recall leaving the venue around midnight!
.....and, my "ground-floor" observation, from about '74, on how and why Bruce was an early Houston hotbed of interest when I was a 19-year-old DJ at the Bayou City's leading "progressive rock" FM station (and, much of it sans Bruce's OK, and before he had any label leverage, which he'd soon enough have!): https://bradkyle.substack.com/p/behind-the-mic-a-personal-peek-into-9a2
Enjoy, Mike, and it's a stone cold gas (to paraphrase Sammy Davis, Jr.!) to have you FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE!😁👍🎶

Two pieces I wanna make sure you don't miss, Mike: An interesting peek into Bruce's curious Lou Christie inspiration: https://bradkyle.substack.com/p/audio-autopsy-from-1963-lou-christie
