Wow! Talk about a trip down memory lane. Seems we had the same taste in comics at a young age. I loved the Harvey line (especially Richie Rich) and all the rest. I never got the wordplay on "Little Lotta" until much later in life, lol. I liked her because she was almost super strong (at least to me).

I also used to watch Lawrence Welk almost every Sunday. To this day I still like polka music.

My dad has always been a huge Beatles fan and, to this day, still had all his original vinyl from them.

Sounds like you were quite the accordion empresario! Very impressive stuff there.

Really enjoyed the post, thank you!

Thanks, Mark! A fun one to write...I wish I still had all my memorabilia...as late as the turn of the century, I had my old accordion ribbons, and at least one foot-tall trophy! It would've been fun to show pix of them! And, I'm sure I still had an old B&W pic of me, my cowlick, and oversized squeezebox from back in the day!

As I think back on it, to have been that young, and able to play a relatively complex instrument (at least with a piano, you're playing bass and treble notes, but NOT pulling and pushing bellows while doing it), I guess I was kinda "good"!

But, it's amazing to think back to 1962 (at age 7), that I was actually able to do more than just learn to tie shoes, blow my nose, and be Danny Wilkens' perpetual punching bag in 2nd grade! Stay tuned, Mark, and thanks again!🎹🎵💥👍

Great story, Brad. I liked hearing your childhood memories. What a resource your Dad was by bringing home all the albums! I played the tuba in high school. I remember lugging that big ass hunk of brass 20 blocks to and from school to practice. Didn't last long. I had an electric guitar months later, and learned from a buddy who had some real training. Fun to think back. Thanks!

Thanks, Paul! 'Twas truly an embarrassment of riches, all those promos! Again, 1) Dad was into jazz, and 2) my bro wasn't into music at all, so one less thing for us to fight over, i.e. "Hey, YOU got the LAST Sabbath album, and it's my turn for that Tir Na Nog thing 'cause YOU got the White Witch last time around!" might've been how it went had he cared about🎵! All he wanted to do was pester me (and be his punching bag)---thank goodness we had separate rooms with door locks!!! My vinyl was truly my friend that bridged me from elementary school thru jr. hi!

Amazing, isn't it, our respective musical stories! I wasn't a joiner, and suffered from low self-confidence in hi school (which is why it never occurred to me to "join band"...except when I joined Brimstone as lead singer....THAT's a story that would do well to be told! Pardon me while I create a page to write that one soon! Thank YOU, Paul!!!🎸💥
